How quickly will I receive my deposit after moving out?
After you vacate your unit, your landlord will complete their move-out process which includes inspecting your unit and finalizing your balance owed, if any.
Once your landlord finalizes the move-out, Whale immediately unlocks the deposit in your Whale account. Once unlocked in your account, you can keep it there so it continues to earn you interest, or withdraw it to any of your other bank accounts.
The time it takes a landlord to finalize their move-out varies, but each state has a deadline for how quickly the landlord has to return the deposit which ranges from 10-60 days.
